About GlycemicLife

GlycemicLife.com is a plain-English education project built around one number that changed how millions of people think about food: Glycemic Load.

Why we exist

Most nutrition content online obsesses over calories, keto vs. carnivore, or the latest supplement. Meanwhile, the real driver of energy, cravings, and body composition — how food raises your blood sugar — barely gets mentioned. Glycemic Load (GL) is the single number that answers this question honestly, using real portions of real food.

Our mission is simple: teach anyone, in five minutes or less, how to build a plate that keeps blood sugar steady and hunger predictable.

What we publish

  • Free, instant tools — a Glycemic Load Calculator and a GI/GL database for 100+ common foods.
  • Evidence-based guides that reference peer-reviewed sources (International Tables of Glycemic Index, University of Sydney GI database, PubMed studies).
  • Practical meal templates and swaps, not moralizing about “clean” vs. “dirty” food.

The team behind it

GlycemicLife is published by the team behind NutriGL Insight, a mobile app that tracks your daily Glycemic Load, macros, and meals automatically. Everything you read here is written by people who spend their days deep in nutrition data.

Editorial standards

  • All GI/GL values are sourced from peer-reviewed literature. Where studies disagree we use the mean.
  • We link to primary sources, not blog posts.
  • We update articles when new evidence changes the picture — with a “last updated” date at the top.
  • We disclose that we build a nutrition app; we do not disclose “affiliate deals” because we don’t sell anything else.

Not medical advice

Everything on this site is educational. If you have diabetes, insulin resistance, PCOS, or any other condition that affects blood sugar, please work with a licensed clinician before making dietary changes.
